That’s right! These exist now. As of the Revenant expansion in November 2024, there are now rogue drone relic sites in addition to the existing drone data sites and dronelands ghost sites. While a nice addition to the drone regions, the sites are unfortunately fairly disappointing.
The Basics

Rogue drone relic sites can spawn in the 8 nullsec drone regions (Cobalt Edge, Etherium Reach, Malpais, Outer Passage, Perrigen Falls, The Kalevala Expanse, and The Spire) and in the kinds of wormhole systems that normally have pirate data/relic sites (C1, C2, C3, C13, and shattered C4). They follow the exact same naming scheme as nullsec/wormhole pirate relic sites:
Site Name | Relic Signature Level | Cans |
Monument Site | 1 | 1 Ruins / 3 Remains / 2 Rubble |
Temple Site | 2 | 2 Ruins / 3 Remains / 1 Rubble |
Science Outpost | 3 | 2 Ruins / 4 Remains |
Crystal Quarry | 4 | 3 Ruins / 3 Remains / 1 Rubble |
For example, the Ruined Rogue Drone Crystal Quarry shows as a level 4 relic signature in the probe scanner, with 3 Rogue Drone Ruins, 3 Rogue Drone Ship Remains, and 1 Rogue Drone Rubble can. Interestingly, the Remains cans are named Ship Remains unlike in pirate relic sites. The cans all have the same difficulty as their pirate counterparts as well:
Can Name | Core |
Rogue Drone Rubble | 70hp Green |
Rogue Drone Ship Remains | 70hp Yellow |
Rogue Drone Ruins | 90hp Red |
Additionally, the sites don’t have any rats and each can gives you 2 hacking attempts before it despawns. Very standard.
Minor Differences

The first unique thing about these sites is the graphics. CCP’s art team outdid themselves yet again, with new stunning site environments and even new models for the rogue drone relic cans. These sites also have 2 mechanical differences compared to regular pirate relic sites: they drop loot from all factions and they’re impossible to cherry-pick.
What I mean by “they drop loot from all factions” is that you can find any pirate faction’s relic loot in a rogue drone relic can. For example, you’d normally only find Enhanced Ward Consoles (salvage used for making shield rigs) in Guristas relic sites. You’d normally only find Contaminated Lorentz Fluid (salvage used for making hybrid weapon rigs) in Serpentis relic sites. You can potentially find both in a rogue drone relic can:

Yes, this means you can find very valuable relic loot like intact armor plates and enhanced ward consoles in the same site, potentially even in the same can. However, I haven’t found any jackpot cans like the ones I regularly find exploring in actual Guristas or Sansha nullsec. Think of these sites more like averaging out the value of relic sites in other regions, or running a grab bag of various relic sites in a wormhole.
The other big thing about these sites is that they’re impossible to cherry-pick. Unlike pirate relic sites, they disappear from the probe scanner after the first successful hack (failed hacks don’t do this). The benefit is obviously that you won’t ever have your time wasted by partially finished sites. The downside is that it’s difficult to tell whether you aren’t finding sites because you’re unlucky or because someone else already cleared the area. Fortunately, you can still tell if there’s another explorer in the area because level 3 drone data sites are buggy and won’t despawn even after every can is hacked.
Are They Busted?
When these sites first came out, there were a lot of raised eyebrows due to their loot table drawing from every pirate faction’s. Isn’t it a bit broken for one site to potentially have every faction’s relic loot, including valuable intact armor plates, enhanced ward consoles, and intact shield emitters?
The answer is no. While the potential loot table is extensive, the actual loot you’ll get from rogue drone relic sites is nothing to write home about. It feels like running relic sites in a wormhole, except the loot is averaged out in each site. If you want high-value relic sites, go to a Guristas or Sansha region like Tenal or Catch. And the real money in dronelands exploration continues to be drone data escalations and ghost sites, especially with the supercap industry inputs that drop from null and wormhole ghost sites being through the roof right now. 500mil nano regulation gates? Yes please!
That said, these sites are still a good thing because they make dronelands exploration far more consistent for new players, and the average loot from a site will likely be higher than a Blood or Angel relic site in their null regions. A new explorer can filament into a drone region and make decent ISK running relic sites there instead of wandering around hoping for a drone data escalation or just waiting out their filament timer so they can go somewhere else. The sites despawning from the probe window after the first hack also makes things less frustrating overall, and it’s something other relic sites can copy.
